Mary Dykes graduated from the University of Virginia and received her Master's Degree from the University of Washington.  Her particular interest is in helping children monitor healthy weights; in fact, she helped to initiate the Shapedown Program and currently teaches in that program.

Mrs. Dykes lives outside of La Center with her husband and three adolescent children.  While she loves gardening, playing the piano, and all forms of outdoor adventures, she currently spends most of her free time on I-5 driving her children here and there.
