Dr. Ey's good heart led him to serve in the Peace Corp in Ethiopia where he was involved in the successful campaign to eradicate smallpox from the world.  He has worked also in Germany, Greece, and Peru.  He has taught at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine and is on the editorial board of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

His wife, Susan, and he have a daughter and son, both grown.  They are members of the First Congregational Church in Portland.  A favorite vacation time includes visiting and hiking in Switzerland, plus he especially enjoys fly fishing for trout, golfing, and reading.
